Catnip Habit App Privacy Policy
Last updated: Today
Overview
Catnip tracks your habits, streaks, and preferences so that it can show progress, personalize the cat mascot, and sync backed-up data. This data lives only on your device unless you explicitly export/import it through the app.
Data We Collect
- Habits & completions: Titles, metadata, recurrence, and all completion dates are stored locally and exported only when you choose to export the JSON file.
- User profile: Name, avatar, cat breed choice, theme, notification preferences, and onboarding flags.
- Analytics: Anonymous usage data is not collected by the app itself; Capacitor/iOS frameworks may surface crash reports if enabled.
Usage of Data
All information is used to render the dashboard, habit details, and cat persona, as well as to support the import/export backup flows and the optional notification nudges you opt into. The app does not send data to third-party servers.
Export & Import
You can export your habits and settings via the “Export Data” control in Settings. Exported JSON files can be saved to Files, shared, or stored in a cloud drive. Importing restores that same JSON into the app. The import function only reads user-provided files and does not upload them anywhere.
Notifications & Permissions
Location permission is requested only if you turn on Weather. Notifications permissions are requested to deliver habit nudges when you enable reminders. The app does not transmit your location or notification content to external servers.
Security
Data is stored in the local WebView storage tied to the app. Backups created via export are handled by the system share/save sheet and are under your control. Please keep those files safe.
